The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) credential proves that you have the skills to successfully implement, manage, and troubleshoot the ongoing needs of Microsoft Windows 2000–based operating environments.An MCSA candidate should have 1 year of experience working with a desktop operating system, a network operating system, and an existing network infrastructure.

MCSA candidates are required to pass three core exams and one elective exam.

Core Exams: Networking System (Two Exams Required)

Exam 70–215: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

Exam 70–218: Managing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Environment

Core Exams: Client Operating System (One Exam Required)

Exam 70–210: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

Exam 70–270: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional

MCSA on Windows 2003
Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) candidates on the Windows Server 2003 track are required to satisfy the following requirements: Core exams (three exams required) Together with the core exams, the elective exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise to successfully manage and maintain the typically complex computing environment of medium-to-large-sized companies.
